THANKS, OBAMA: My Hopey, Changey White House Years; A Speechwriter's Memoir

THANKS, OBAMA: My Hopey, Changey White House Years; A Speechwriter's Memoir

by David Litt

David Litt’s Thanks, Obama will charm and entertain you from start to finish.  With his self-deprecating humor, Litt relates his amazing story of becoming one of the youngest White House speechwriters in history.

Litt has many stories to tell:  from drafting remarks on serious issues like climate change and criminal justice reform; to nearly causing an international incident with one speech; to spearheading the team that wrote the monologues for the White House Correspondents’ Dinners (remember Obama’s ‘Angry Black Man’ monologue?); Litt’s humor never fails.

Along with the laughter, Litt also charms by explaining his belief in Obama’s campaign words, “People who love this country can change it.”  We see Obama’s White House through Litt’s eyes and Litt leaves us with the upbeat message that Obama’s administration’s principles will outlast those of the Trump administration.  Truly a delightful read, I recommend this one highly. (Liz)
