LEAN IN

LEAN IN

by Sheryl Sandberg

Right off the bat, I need to say Lean In is not strictly a “not my cup of tea.” The book is fine—only I let it sit on my shelf for at least six years before reading it. So, for anyone like me, who hasn’t yet read this groundbreaking book, I say, "At this point, don’t bother." Sandberg makes excellent points about how we need more women in leadership positions, and her personal story (what little she shares) is fascinating. But I felt like her main ideas are so commonly expressed these days that the book didn't introduce me to anything new. My one caveat is if you feel like you NEED an introduction to contemporary feminism, or wonder what needs to be done to close the gender gaps in the workplace and the home, then PLEASE read this book.  Otherwise, try to find a newer book that moves the conversation forward. That’s what I will be doing, and I will report back! (Lily)
